Ancient Greek Guide

Project: Ancient Greece-Themed 'Choose Your Own Adventure' Travel Guide
Objective: To create an immersive, mythology-inspired travel experience for my boyfriend's birthday, combining his love for Ancient Greek stories with a nature-centered journey.
Approach: I focused on three core elements to guide the project:
-
A unique narrative - Emphasizing the mythical tales behind each location.
-
A personalized travel route - Curating locations that balanced nature and history.
-
A playful design aesthetic - Blending clean visuals with a touch of whimsy.

The Process
I selected eight locations around Mount Olympus and Athens, places that neither of us had visited before. Over six months, I delved into the history and myths surrounding each site, gathering insights to build a cohesive adventure.
To make the guide truly unique, I also reached out to friends and family who had been to Greece for personalized recommendations.
The result was a 200-page guide that led us from Thessaloniki to Aegina, bringing Greek mythology to life in a modern travel setting.

Designing the Guide
The design aimed to be both playful and minimalist. I opted for clean typography, a simple color palette, and thoughtful layout choices to enhance readability. Drawing from Greece’s natural beauty and iconic elements—like ancient architecture and scenic houses—I developed a color scheme that mirrored the serene yet powerful landscape.
To evoke the mythical atmosphere of Ancient Greece, I balanced the minimalist design with hand-drawn collages and doodles.
These playful touches added a storybook quality, capturing the magical essence of Greek mythology while reflecting my own style.
